Type H Universal Cubicle Earthing Set

HASEGAWA Type H is a universal cubicle-type earthing set designed for medium-voltage switchgear and high-voltage customer substations, and is the standard model in the series. Applied to de-energised busbars, the set connects the three phases to each other and to earth, protecting against accidental re-energisation of the circuit during maintenance.

The phase heads have insulating rubber clips and the stick has a rubber grip. With three 22 mm² phase leads, an 8 mm² earth lead and a portable carrying case, the set weighs 3.5 kg in total. Used by maintenance teams in substations, industrial sites and distribution networks, the Type H is supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by the official distributor in Türkiye.

Where is it used?

• Modular MV switchgear: after the circuit breaker and disconnector have been opened, cable terminations and busbars are short-circuited and earthed with the Type H; cable termination replacement and busbar maintenance are carried out under this protection.
• Customer substations: provides temporary earthing (grounding) during periodic maintenance and fault repair at factories, hospitals and shopping centres with their own transformers.
• Compact distribution switchboards: the 1.2 m phase leads allow a tidy connection without excess cable in cubicles where the distance between phases is short.
• Rooms with an earth bar: the set has no driven earth spike; the 5 m earth lead is connected with its clip to the earthing bar in the cubicle or room.

Both sets work without a spike and weigh almost the same. The Type H offers thicker phase leads, while the HC stands out with its angle-adjustable head fitting and an earth lead 2 m longer. Which cross-section is sufficient must be determined from the short-circuit current of the installation. Limits of use and safety

The Type H must not be applied to any conductor on which absence of voltage has not been verified. First test each phase with a voltage detector suited to the cubicle's voltage class, and check the detector itself immediately before use with a voltage detector tester. The earth lead is always the first connection made and the last removed.

The fact that the rubber clips are insulating does not make it safe to touch a live conductor; the set is designed for de-energised circuits only. Whether the 22 mm² cross-section is adequate for the prospective fault current at the installation must be assessed by the person responsible for the installation. Wear insulating gloves and a face shield during application, and take the set out of service if the cable sheath is cracked or a clip is deformed.
