HASEGAWA HRD-27S is a discharge stick with a sound and light indicator, used to safely drain the electrical charge remaining in de-energised cables, capacitors and similar equipment. It is rated for discharge voltages up to DC 27 kV. It is chosen by technical teams working on medium-voltage cable testing, capacitor bank maintenance and in high-voltage test laboratories.
What sets this model apart from other discharge sticks is the indicator in the middle of the body: during discharge, the status is signalled both audibly and visually, so the operator can follow the draining of the charge by eye and ear. The discharge stick is used only on de-energised circuits; it must never be applied to a live line. First open and isolate the circuit, verify absence of voltage with a suitable voltage detector, then carry out the discharge. Do not use this model in applications where the DC 27 kV upper limit would be exceeded.
Discharging does not replace earthing for the duration of the work: once the charge has been drained, the circuit must be earthed with an earthing set for as long as work continues.
