D Series Indoor Disconnector Operating Rod

The HASEGAWA D Series is a short indoor disconnector operating rod designed for opening and closing disconnectors inside medium-voltage switchgear cubicles. The series covers four voltage classes from 6.6 kV to 30 kV with the D1, D2, D3 and D4 models.

Rod lengths range from 0.5 m to 2.0 m and grip lengths from 0.3 m to 0.5 m. These compact dimensions let the rod be manoeuvred easily in the limited space in front of the cubicle door. Suited to the electrical teams of distribution networks, industrial sites and companies operating their own MV installations, the D Series is supplied as genuine HASEGAWA products by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.

Where is it used?

• 6.6 kV and 10 kV cubicles: the 0.5 m D1 and 1.0 m D2 are used in cubicles with a small door opening where the disconnector lever is close by.
• 20 kV and 30 kV distribution cubicles: at these common distribution voltages, the 1.5 m D3 and 2.0 m D4 allow switching while maintaining an adequate approach distance.
• Indoor substations: preferred to long rods in rooms with limited ceiling height and corridor width.
• Preparation for maintenance: after the disconnector is opened, the voltage check and earthing steps in the cubicle follow.

In the 30 kV class both series offer a 2.0 m length and a 0.5 m grip; what sets the D Series apart is its shortest model of 0.5 m for 6.6 kV and its focus on in-cubicle use. Voltages above 40 kV or outdoor disconnectors require the SA109 Series. Those who want switching and voltage checking in one tool at 6.6 kV can consider the HSH-K6.

Limits of use and safety

The class is selected according to the operating voltage of the cubicle; a D2 specified for 10 kV must not be used in a 20 kV or 30 kV cubicle. The short length is designed for use inside cubicles; do not use the rod on outdoor disconnectors or elevated contacts. Grip the rod only by its grip section and never let your hand pass the grip limit.

Disconnector switching must be carried out in the sequence set out in the operating instructions and with the circuit breaker open. After switching, the conductors in the cubicle are checked with a suitable voltage detector, and maintenance work must not begin until a cubicle earthing set has been applied. Wear insulating gloves and a face shield, and postpone use if the rod surface shows scratches, cracks or moisture.
