HTE-700D/700DL Low Voltage Detector

HASEGAWA HTE-700D/700DL is a pen-type AC/DC low voltage detector that detects both alternating and direct current. It operates from AC 50 V – 600 V and DC 12 V – 750 V; when voltage is detected it shows a continuous red light and gives a continuous audible alarm. The successor to the HT-680 series, it offers IPX4-equivalent water resistance.

The series has two versions: the HTE-700D is the standard model, and the HTE-700DL adds an LED light. It suits maintenance teams working with DC systems such as battery banks, UPS units and control circuits. HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye of the Japanese manufacturer, supplies both versions as genuine HASEGAWA products with a commercial invoice.

Where is it used?

• DC control and battery systems: Checking for voltage on substation battery banks, UPS outputs and 110 V / 220 V DC control circuits.
• AC distribution boards: Quick checks at terminals and busbars on low-voltage boards up to 600 V.
• Wet and outdoor work: IPX4-equivalent protection allows use on sites exposed to splashing water, on outdoor lighting and in street cabinets.
• Cold environments: An operating temperature down to −10 °C suits outdoor work in winter.

The detector starts responding at AC 15 V ± 5 V and DC 6 V ± 3 V to earth. These values apply when the earth terminal is held in the bare hand or the earth lead is connected to earth. The earth lead must be connected for DC detection and for AC voltages of 80 V and below.

If you work on DC circuits, or need resistance to water and cold, the HTE-700D/700DL is the right choice. If you check AC installations only and also work on AC circuits above 600 V, the HTE-610W is more suitable.

Limits of use and safety

The upper AC limit is 600 V; the detector must not be used on higher-voltage systems such as 690 V. Do not rely on DC results obtained without the earth lead connected. The manufacturer specifies that rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries must not be used; their lower cell voltage can affect correct operation. IPX4-equivalent protection is against splashing water; the detector must not be immersed. Before every use, test it on a known live source, and do not treat the absence of an alarm on its own as proof that a circuit is dead.
