HASEGAWA HSS-36B1 is an extendable medium / low voltage detector operating from AC 80 V – 36 kV. As the new model with an extended voltage range, it covers 36 kV-class distribution networks, such as 30 kV and 33 kV systems. It gives DSO operations teams, industrial sites and maintenance staff at renewable energy plants a wide field of use with a single instrument.
Being able to check everything from 0.4 kV boards to 36 kV-class switchgear with the same detector reduces the need to carry separate detectors for different voltage classes. The HSS-36B1 is made by HASEGAWA in Japan and is supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.

If your operation includes switchgear or lines above 25 kV, such as 30 kV or 33 kV, the HSS-36B1 is required. If your installations stay at 20 kV and below, the HSS-25B1 may be sufficient; where both voltage levels are present, the HSS-36B1 is preferred so teams can work with a single type of instrument.
The HSS-36B1 must not be used on systems above 36 kV; for high-voltage transmission installations, consider universal joint high voltage detectors or hot stick high voltage detectors. When checking low voltage, the stick must not be left extended, because LV is not detected in this mode. As shown in the manufacturer's usage drawing, the finger must be kept on the name plate throughout the measurement, even when rubber gloves are worn.
Before every use, confirm that the detector works with a tester or a known live source, and use insulating gloves and PPE suitable for the 36 kV class. After verifying the absence of voltage, work must not start until the line has been earthed; for details, see our article on earthing sets.
