HSS-25B1 Medium / Low Voltage Detector

HASEGAWA HSS-25B1 is a telescopic medium / low voltage detector positioned as the standard model for medium-voltage installations. Its AC 80 V – 25 kV operating range covers a wide field, from low-voltage boards to 6 kV, 10 kV, 15 kV and 20 kV distribution systems.

When the telescopic body is extended, the conductor can be reached from a set distance, keeping the user's body away from the live zone. Made in Japan, the HSS-25B1 is supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.

Where is it used?

• MV switchgear and cable terminations: Verifying the absence of voltage after a circuit breaker or disconnector has been opened and before an earthing truck or earthing set is fitted.
• Distribution transformers: Checks in extended mode on the MV terminals, and with the stick retracted on the LV output busbars.
• Industrial shutdowns: Pre-energisation checks of motor feeder cubicles, power-factor correction panels and distribution busbars during planned maintenance.
• Hard-to-reach points: Contact from a distance with busbars deep inside a cubicle or connections mounted high up.

If your site has voltage levels above 11.4 kV, or you want to reach conductors from a distance, the HSS-25B1 is the right choice. For 36 kV-class switchgear, consider the HSS-36B1, whose range extends to 36 kV.

Limits of use and safety

The HSS-25B1 must not be used on systems above 25 kV. The stick must not be extended for low-voltage checks; because LV is not detected in extended mode, this could lead to a false "no voltage" reading. As shown in the manufacturer's usage drawing, the finger must stay on the name plate throughout the measurement; this rule does not change when rubber gloves are worn.
