HST-30 Hot Stick High Voltage Detector

HASEGAWA HST-30 is a hot stick voltage detector operating from AC 3 kV – 34.5 kV. A single instrument covers common medium-voltage distribution levels such as 6 kV, 10 kV, 15 kV, 20 kV and 30 kV. It is manufactured in Japan by Hasegawa Electric and supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.

Distribution network operators (DSOs), industrial sites running their own MV substations, solar and wind farms and maintenance contractors use the HST-30 to verify that a line is really dead after disconnection and before earthing is applied. Alongside the standard model, there are factory versions fitted with a longer stick for points that are hard to reach.

Where is it used?

• Overhead lines: Voltage checks on distribution lines up to 34.5 kV before pole-top maintenance and insulator or disconnector replacement.
• Kiosk and compact substations: Verification on incoming and outgoing cubicles, cable terminations and busbars before earthing.
• Renewable energy sites: On solar and wind farm collector lines and on MV connections between inverter and transformer stations.
• Industrial sites: Planned maintenance and fault response at plants with their own MV distribution.

Limits of use and safety

The HST-30 must only be used within the 3 kV – 34.5 kV range; reliable results must not be expected on low-voltage boards or on lines above 34.5 kV. For low voltage, low voltage detectors are suitable. Before every use, confirm that the detector works with a suitable voltage detector tester or a known live source. The person taking the measurement must hold the stick only by its grip area, wear insulating gloves and a face shield suitable for the MV class, and keep a safe approach distance.
