HASEGAWA HXA-30S is a helmet-mounted proximity alarm developed for overhead lines from 11 kV to 66 kV. It is fixed to the safety helmet with a band and holders, and produces an audible warning of at least 65 dB when the worker's head enters the electric field of a live conductor. Common 33 kV and 35 kV distribution lines sit well within this range.
Under normal conditions, on an 11 kV line with a phase-to-earth voltage of 6.4 kV, the alarm starts at approximately 100 cm. The device works on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz networks. The HXA-30S is made in Japan and supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product to business customers by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.
The HXA-30S is a practical solution for crews working across the wide voltage band between distribution and transmission:
The helmet-mounted design keeps the alarm in a fixed position during climbing and aerial platform work, when the arms are constantly moving. Having the sound close to the ear is an advantage on noisy sites.

The three helmet-mounted models use the same body, battery and accessory set. If you only work on lines up to 33 kV, the HXA-6S is suitable; for 66 kV – 110 kV lines, the HXA-70S. The arm-mounted version of the same voltage class, the HXA-30, warns at 70 cm at 11 kV; the helmet-mounted HXA-30S warns at 100 cm, i.e. earlier.
According to the current HASEGAWA HXA Series brochure, the helmet-mounted models (HXA-6S, HXA-30S, HXA-70S) offer:
| Line voltage (phase-to-phase) | HXA-6S | HXA-30S | HXA-70S |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 kV | 1.1 m | 0.7 m | 0.6 m |
| 11 kV | 1.4 m | 1.0 m | 0.8 m |
| 22 kV | 2.0 m | 1.4 m | 1.2 m |
| 33 kV | 2.5 m | 1.7 m | 1.5 m |
| 66 kV | 3.5 m | 2.3 m | 2.1 m |
| 110 kV | 4.5 m | 3.0 m | 2.7 m |
The values are theoretical, under standard conditions. Real alarm distance varies with conductor arrangement, surrounding structures, earthing conditions and the work environment; verify operation on site. The HXA Series is an auxiliary warning device and does not replace required safety clearances or verification of absence of voltage.
The HXA-30S is only a warning layer. Before starting work on the line, verify the absence of voltage with a hot stick high voltage detector suited to the line's voltage class and earth the line. The distance at which the alarm starts varies with line voltage; on lines approaching 66 kV, the statutory minimum approach distance may be greater than the alarm distance, so the distance in the work plan must take precedence.
Do not use the device in condensing conditions; make sure the body is dry when moving between warm and cold environments. Check the battery at the start of each shift and confirm that the holders sit firmly on the helmet. For more information, read our article What Is a Proximity Alarm?

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The operating range is AC 11 kV – 66 kV, so 33 kV and 34.5 kV distribution lines are within this range.
Under normal conditions, on an 11 kV line (6.4 kV phase-to-earth) the alarm starts at approximately 100 cm. On higher-voltage lines and with different conductor arrangements, this distance may vary.
The HXA-30S comes with a fastening band and two holders for mounting on the helmet. The device runs on a single CR2032 battery.
Yes. The HXA Series is rated IP67: dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water.
