HASEGAWA HXA-30 is an arm-mounted proximity alarm designed for crews working on overhead lines from 11 kV to 66 kV. It is fastened to the arm with a band and gives an audible warning of at least 65 dB on entering the electric field of a live conductor. It is the choice of distribution and transmission crews maintaining lines from the upper medium-voltage range up to 66 kV.
Under normal conditions, on an 11 kV line with a phase-to-earth voltage of 6.4 kV, the alarm starts at approximately 70 cm. It can be used on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz networks. The device is manufactured in Japan by HASEGAWA Electric and supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.
The HXA-30 comes into its own on lines where the voltage can exceed 33 kV or where circuits at different voltages share the same pole. Example applications:
Because the body weighs only about 45 g, it does not restrict arm movement and can stay on all day during climbing and aerial platform work.
| HXA-6 | HXA-30 | HXA-70 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating voltage | AC 6.6 kV – 33 kV | AC 11 kV – 66 kV | AC 66 kV – 110 kV |
| Alarm start distance | 80 cm (standard conditions) | 70 cm at 11 kV | 150 cm at 66 kV |
| Sound level | At least 65 dB (at 1 m) | At least 65 dB | At least 65 dB |
| Battery | CR2032 (3 V) × 1 | CR2032 (3 V) × 1 | CR2032 (3 V) × 1 |

| Dimensions | 78 × 82 × 25 mm | 78 × 82 × 25 mm | 78 × 82 × 25 mm |
If your line voltage does not exceed 33 kV, the HXA-6 is more suitable; for 66 kV – 110 kV lines, choose the HXA-70. For crews who prefer to wear the alarm on the helmet rather than the arm, the HXA-30S in the same voltage class warns at 100 cm at 11 kV. For work inside panels and switchgear, the wrist-worn HXW-6WL can be chosen.
A proximity alarm does not prove the absence of voltage; if the HXA-30 stays silent, that does not mean the line is de-energised. Before starting work, test with a hot stick high voltage detector suited to the line's voltage class and earth the line. The distance at which the alarm starts does not replace the minimum approach distance defined by applicable regulations; on lines approaching 66 kV in particular, that distance may be greater than the alarm distance.
The device is sensitive to condensation: watch for misting on the body when moving from a cold vehicle into a warm environment or in humid weather. Check the battery at the start of each shift and use the full set of PPE. For an overview, read our guide What Is a Proximity Alarm?
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The HXA-30 operates from AC 11 kV to 66 kV, so 33 kV and 34.5 kV distribution lines fall within its range.
Under normal conditions, on an 11 kV line (6.4 kV phase-to-earth) the alarm starts at approximately 70 cm. The actual distance varies with line voltage, conductor arrangement and ambient conditions.
Both are in the same voltage class. The HXA-30 is fastened to the arm with a band; the HXA-30S is mounted on the helmet and alarms at 100 cm at 11 kV.
The price of the HASEGAWA HXA-30 Arm-Mounted Proximity Alarm depends on quantity, delivery country and project. Send the quote form or a WhatsApp message to get the current price and lead time, usually the same business day.
