HVC-1.5N3M Monorail Voltage Detector

HASEGAWA HVC-1.5N3M is a monorail voltage detector developed to verify that the supply line is dead on straddle-beam monorail systems. It can be used at DC 600 V, 750 V and 1500 V voltage levels, so the same unit can serve monorail lines with different supply voltages.

Monorail maintenance teams usually work at height, on narrow platforms and outdoors. With a weight of approximately 1.6 kg including the earthing clip and a dust- and water-resistant IP44-equivalent design, the HVC-1.5N3M suits these conditions. When voltage is detected the buzzer gives a warning. Manufactured in Japan by HASEGAWA Electric, this model is supplied by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.

Where is it used?

On monorail systems, power is transferred to the vehicle through conductor rails on the side of the beam. Before maintenance or fault work, these conductors must be shown to be really dead. The HVC-1.5N3M is used for:

• Checking absence of voltage on the supply conductors on the beam before maintenance
• Confirming voltage status on depot and workshop tracks before connecting the vehicle
• Verifying isolation after the supply has been disconnected
• The final check before earthing is applied

The alarm threshold of DC 300 V ±20 V ensures that the unit warns reliably even at low nominal voltages such as DC 600 V.

Both models share a maximum voltage of DC 2000 V, a dielectric strength of AC 4 kV and IP44-equivalent protection. If you work on a line with more than one DC voltage level, choose the HVC-1.5N3M; for a DC 1500 V substation only, the HVC-1.5N3S is preferred. For third-rail metro systems, the HVC-750N3 with digital voltage display is an alternative.

Limits of use and safety

As with the other models in the series, the HVC-1.5N3M does not detect negative potential. No warning on a conductor at negative polarity does not show that the supply is off; the measuring point must be determined according to the operator's instructions. Before use, run the test function and check the batteries and the earthing clip.

When working at height it is important to secure the unit against dropping and to use personal fall protection on narrow platforms.
