HASEGAWA HST-35V is a universal joint medium voltage detector that fits on the end of a common insulating stick via a universal joint. On 50/60 Hz networks in the AC 6 kV – 35 kV range it signals the presence of voltage with an intermittent audible alarm and a red LED. It is designed for DSO maintenance teams, industrial sites that operate their own MV substations, and operating staff at solar and wind farms.
Common European distribution levels such as 10 kV, 15 kV, 20 kV, 30 kV and 33 kV all fall within this range. As the detector comes as a separate head, the team fits it to the stick they already use in the field only when needed, and it takes up little space in the kit bag. Manufactured in Japan by Hasegawa Electric, it is supplied by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official HASEGAWA distributor in Türkiye, to customers across Europe.
In noisy switchyards the intermittent sound of at least 70 dB, and in bright surroundings the red LED visible at 8000 lx, keep the result readable.

|---|---|---|
| Operating voltage (AC) | 6 kV – 35 kV | 6 kV – 35 kV |
| Audible alarm | At least 70 dB, intermittent | At least 80 dB, intermittent |
| Visual indication | Red LED, visible at 8000 lx | Flashing red LED, distinguishable at 50,000 lx; green standby LED |
| Water resistance | IPX4 equivalent | IP45 equivalent |
| Battery | 2 × LR44 (1.5 V) | 2 × R03 (1.5 V) |
| Operating temperature | −10 °C … +50 °C | −10 °C … +50 °C |
Both models cover the same voltage range. The compact HST-35V is sufficient for basic voltage checks; teams who work a lot outdoors in direct sunlight and want stronger indication may prefer the HWB-35. For higher levels, the same series includes the HST-138V and HST-550V.
The HST-35V is intended only for AC 6 kV – 35 kV systems; it is not used on low voltage panels, DC installations or networks above 35 kV. Before every measurement, confirm that the detector works with a suitable voltage detector tester or at a point known to be live, and repeat this check when the job is finished. The detector and stick must be dry, clean and undamaged, and the stick must be held only by its handle area. Wear PPE such as HV gloves, a safety helmet and a face shield, and follow your organisation's approach distance rules. The detector only verifies the absence of voltage; it does not replace earthing of the work area. For periodic checks, see this guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Its operating range is AC 6 kV – 35 kV, and the common 33 kV distribution level lies within this range.
The data sheet lists only a storage case as an accessory. Because the detector attaches to a common stick via a universal joint, we can confirm the stick you will use at the quotation stage.
It uses 2 × LR44 (1.5 V) button cells. If no indication is obtained in the pre-use test, check the batteries first.
The red LED is designed to be visible at 8000 lx ambient light. On very bright sites, the intermittent audible alarm supports the result as a second channel of indication.
