HASEGAWA HLA-3 is a battery-powered voltage detector tester developed to check, before use, that voltage detectors are working correctly in the field. The unit produces an AC 4000 V ± 15% test voltage; when the detector tip is brought close to or touched against the output terminal, you can see whether the detector gives its warning.
As the model with the highest output voltage in the HLA series, the HLA-3 is designed for distribution, substation and industrial maintenance teams that use medium- and high-voltage detectors. Made in Japan, it is supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by the official distributor in Türkiye, with a commercial invoice.
A voltage detector that gives no warning can mean two things: the line really is dead, or the detector is faulty. The HLA-3 removes that uncertainty. Powered by two internal 9 V batteries, the unit generates a test voltage of approximately 4000 V at 55 Hz ± 10 Hz. The short-circuit current of the output circuit is limited to 0.5 mA or less, a safe level for the user during testing. A red LED lights while the test voltage is being generated; when the batteries weaken, the lamp goes out to alert the user.
A typical field routine is: test the detector on the HLA-3 before starting work, then check the line for voltage, and test the detector again when the job is finished. This records that the detector was working at the moment of measurement.

The right model depends on the starting voltage of the detector to be tested. Choose the HLA-1A for low-voltage detectors, the HLA-2G for higher-threshold detectors, and the HLA-3 for detectors that require a 4000 V test voltage. Send us your detector models and we will identify the compatible tester together.
The HLA-3 is a test source; it does not itself show that a line is dead and cannot replace a voltage detector. Only 6LR61 or 6LF22 type 9 V batteries may be fitted; 6F22 (zinc-carbon) batteries cannot be used. If the red LED does not light, do not rely on the test result; replace the batteries first. The unit is outside its operating range below 0 °C; in winter, keep it in a vehicle or a warm place. Hold the detector by its insulated handle during testing and wear PPE. We explain why detectors need regular testing in our article on periodic inspection.
Frequently Asked Questions
The HLA-3 is intended for detectors that require a test voltage at the AC 4000 V level. Compatibility has to be determined from your detector's starting voltage; simply send us your list of models.
The red LED used as the output lamp goes out when the battery voltage is insufficient. In that case the test result is not reliable and the batteries must be replaced.
Good practice is to test the detector before every use and again at the end of the job. If your organisation's safety procedure calls for more frequent checks, follow it.
The price of the HASEGAWA HLA-3 Voltage Detector Tester depends on quantity, delivery country and project. Send the quote form or a WhatsApp message to get the current price and lead time, usually the same business day.
