HASEGAWA HLA-2G is a dual-output voltage detector tester designed to verify that voltage detectors are working properly before use. The H terminal produces an AC 1200 V test voltage and the L terminal AC 70 V, so the same unit can check the response of both high-threshold and low-threshold detectors.
Powered by two 9 V batteries, the HLA-2G offers a total operating time of approximately 2 hours and, at 700 g, fits in a field kit bag. Made in Japan by HASEGAWA Electric, it is supplied to business customers as a genuine HASEGAWA product from the official distributor in Türkiye.
The HLA-2G converts energy from its internal batteries into an alternating test voltage at approximately 55 Hz. When the sensing tip of the detector is brought close to or touched against the relevant terminal, a sound detector should give its warning. If there is no warning, the detector's battery, sensing circuit and indicator must be checked before it is used in the field.
The short-circuit current of the output circuit is limited to 0.5 mA or less, to protect the user in the event of contact during testing. Typical users:
| HLA-1A | HLA-2G | HLA-3 | |

The HLA-2G sits in the middle of the series. For low-voltage detectors where the 400 V and 100 V levels are sufficient, the lighter HLA-1A is recommended; for detectors requiring a 4000 V test voltage, the HLA-3. For detectors used on DC systems, the HLA-N2 DC is a separate option. Share your detector models with us and we can work out together which tester is suitable.
The HLA-2G does not show that a line is dead; it only confirms that the detector works. The safe sequence is: test the detector on the HLA-2G, check the circuit for voltage, then test the detector again when the job is done. Do not touch the terminals by hand during testing; hold the detector by its insulated handle.
As the operating range starts at 0 °C, keep the unit in a vehicle or a warm place if it will be used outdoors in winter. Removing the batteries when the unit will not be used for a long time reduces the risk of leakage. For detectors suitable for medium voltage see the medium / low-voltage detectors category, and for good testing practice read our article on periodic inspection.
Frequently Asked Questions
The H terminal produces AC 1200 V and the L terminal AC 70 V. Two levels are provided so that detectors with different thresholds can be tested with the same unit.
The HLA-2G runs on two 9 V batteries (6R61 or 6F22). The total operating time is approximately 2 hours.
The highest output of the HLA-2G is AC 1200 V, whereas the HLA-3 produces an AC 4000 V test voltage. The choice depends on the starting voltage of the detector to be tested.
The price of the HASEGAWA HLA-2G Voltage Detector Tester depends on quantity, delivery country and project. Send the quote form or a WhatsApp message to get the current price and lead time, usually the same business day.
