Custom Earthing Equipment

Not every installation fits a standard earthing set. Unusual busbar profiles, hard-to-reach connection points, long earthing distances or a special voltage level may call for a set designed for the application. In HASEGAWA's custom-made earthing sets, every component from the tip fitting to the cable is specified when ordering, and the set is manufactured in Japan to these specifications.

Special cubicles at industrial sites, operators with older switchgear and substations with non-standard connection points are typical users of this solution.

Which model?

Product	Operating voltage	Typical use
Custom fixed / detachable set	Specified when ordering	Applications that standard cubicle or line sets do not fit

The main parameters specified when ordering are:

• Type of tip fitting and type of earthing clamp
• Type of insulating stick (jointed or telescopic), its length and diameter
• Cross-section and length of the earthing cable
• Operating voltage

The standard set is supplied for AC use as 3 phases / 1 set; a carrying case is available separately. Because the products are made to order, they may not be returnable. It is therefore important to finalise the dimensions and parameters together before ordering. For railway applications, a custom railway earthing hook is also available.

Points to note in use

A custom set is subject to the same rules as standard sets: it is not fitted until the absence of voltage has been verified, and the earth side is connected first and removed last. The suitability of the cable cross-section for the installation's short-circuit current must be assessed at the design stage.

All options are listed on the earthing equipment page. For the basic application rules, read our article Earthing Sets: Key Rules for Safe Work on Power Lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a custom-made set be preferred over a standard set?

If the tip fitting, stick length or cable length of the cubicle or transmission line sets does not suit your installation, a custom-made set is needed. We first compare with the standard models and, if they are not suitable, define the parameters for a custom set with you.
