HASEGAWA HPR is a wireless medium-voltage phase tester whose transmitter and receiver units communicate without a cable. The series comprises four models: HPR-S6 and HPR-U6 for shared use on 3.3 kV and 6.6 kV systems, and HPR-S20 and HPR-U20 for shared use on 22 kV and 34.5 kV systems. For 33 kV-class distribution networks, the S20 and U20 models are the relevant choice.
Before two supply sources or two lines are connected, the instrument checks phase agreement and phase sequence; a single unit can also be used for voltage detection. The HPR series is made in Japan by HASEGAWA Electric and supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.
The two units are brought into contact with the two conductors being compared at the same time. The transmitter sends information on its phase wirelessly to the receiver; the receiver compares it with the phase it is touching and reports whether they are in phase or 120° out of phase. The phase sequence function distinguishes leading and lagging phase. The result is given by a visual indication visible at 8000 lux and an audible warning of at least 50 dB at 3 m.
The test distance between transmitter and receiver is within 5 m. With no cable between the two units, there is no risk of snagging a cable between switchgear panels or on a pole. The straight-stick S models offer a compact set, while the universal-joint U models make angled access easier; the HPR-U20 reaches 3500 mm when extended.

For a short-range set that is quick to deploy, the HPR series is the better fit. If the test points are far apart, the HPI-S20W's test distance, extendable with optical cable, is an advantage.
Use each model only within its own voltage class: the HPR-S6 and HPR-U6 must not be used on 22 kV or 34.5 kV lines. During testing, the distance between transmitter and receiver must not exceed 5 m, and the sticks must be held only at the handle area. Despite the waterproof construction, check before use that the sticks are clean, dry and undamaged, and check the battery condition.
