HASEGAWA HPL-200W is a low voltage phase tester developed for three-phase systems from AC 70 V to 1 kV. A single instrument shows whether conductors at two separate points are in the same phase, helping to prevent short circuits and equipment damage caused by incorrect phase matching. It is manufactured in Japan by Hasegawa Electric and supplied as a genuine HASEGAWA product by HASEGAWA Türkiye, the official distributor in Türkiye.
It is designed for DSO metering crews, building and facility electricians, panel builders and maintenance contractors. The result is read from an LED: in phase, the LED flashes; out of phase, it stays lit continuously.
The main scenario in HASEGAWA's application diagram is meter replacement without interrupting supply. When a meter is to be removed without cutting off the customer, a temporary bypass cable is connected between the supply side and the load side. Before this cable is connected, you must be sure that both ends are on the same phase; otherwise a phase-to-phase short circuit occurs the moment the bypass is made. Two of the HPL-200W's R, S and T clips (L1, L2, L3) are attached to the corresponding points on the supply and load sides, and the instrument reports the result by LED.
Other typical applications:
The HPL-200W is a phase comparison instrument; it is not used to verify that a line is de-energised. For verifying the absence of voltage, use a suitable low voltage detector. Use the instrument only within the 70 V – 1 kV range; for medium-voltage systems choose a medium / high voltage phase tester. Wear insulating gloves and eye protection when attaching clips to live conductors, and do not connect the bypass cable until the clips are secured.
