Voltect Voltage Indicators

Voltect is not a detector carried to the work location; it is a non-contact voltage indicator and warning device permanently mounted in an installation that continuously shows whether voltage is present at that point. Because it is installed without a separate PT/PD element, adding it to existing installations is economical and straightforward. The product is manufactured by HASEGAWA following the acquisition of Million Electric Mfg. technologies.

Substations, transmission lines and high-voltage consumer installations are the main places of use. Operating staff can see from a distance, without taking a measurement, whether a busbar or line feeder is live, which improves situational awareness before switching operations.

Voltect and a portable voltage detector are not alternatives to each other. A fixed indicator provides a continuous reminder that voltage is present; a portable detector verifies the absence of voltage at the work location immediately before work begins. If both needs exist, Voltect should be planned together with a hot-stick or universal-joint detector.

Points to note in use

• A "no voltage" state on the indicator is not, on its own, sufficient to start work. The absence of voltage must be verified at the work location with a portable detector, followed by earthing.
• Installation must be carried out by authorised personnel, with a planned outage, in a manner suited to the voltage level and approach distances of the installation.

Voltect's function is to show whether voltage is present or not; it is not a measuring instrument designed to measure the voltage value.
